Fly on the Wall by E. Lockhart (review)

Fly on the Wall was the first book that I have read by E. Lockhart, and it made me want to keep reading. She creates an intricate personae in Gretchen Yee, a girl who feels she is simply normal in a school where individuality matters more than anything else.

Gretchen wishes that she could be a fly on the wall - and it happens.Suddenly she is in the guys' locker room and knows all the intimate details about the guys with whom she has been associating for so long without really knowing them, and that soon becomes clear.

While this book is certainly a quick read, it is one that captures your attention until its conclusion. Lockhart creates a convincing, three-dimensional character who develops. A farfetched story line turns out to be the most fun, and Lockhart does a great job of making such an absurd plot line seem possible. Fly on the Wall is a short read, but certainly one of the best books written recently.I highly recommend it!

The Song Reader- Lisa Tucker (review)

This book is so good that Meg Cabot even reviewed it as "rock you world"! Lee Ann grows up in the early 1980's with a missing father and a dead mother. She spends ages trying to find out the mystery of her father's location, while her older sister, Mary Beth, spends ages trying to find out other people's mysteries. She reads songs, kind of like reading palms. She believes that whatever song's on your mind, has a reason for being there. Mary Beth's "gift" gets her many clients, but a very important male client comes to visit one day. The relationship between him and Mary Beth blossoms, until a startling secret is discovered. The relationship is broken off and Mary Beth is distraught. However, this isn't what causes her to spiral out of control. A failed song reading gets the whole town talking about her. Mary Beth and Leeann must learn to deal with the consequences of this secret and put their lives back together.

Lisa Tucker can absolutely write. This book is so real, that you actually feel that you're Leeann. I loved how Leann grew throughout the story. It doesn't matter what type of books you previously liked; you'll love this one.
