A GEEKTASTIC Note From CASSANDRA CLARE

Cassandra Clare is the author of the bestselling Mortal Instruments Trilogy. The final book in this series, City of Glass, comes out later this month on March 24th. She is currently working on her next trilogy, The Infernal Devices. Here she writes about the upcoming release of an anthology she wrote for, suitably titled Geektastic.

"Hey, Just wanted to drop a line to tell you guys about a short story I wrote for an anthology called Geektastic. I'm lucky to be in it because it has some of the best YA writers out there contributing stories about their nerdy and geeky passions — Libba Bray writes about the Rocky Horror Picture show, and Holly Black and Cecil Castelucci about the love of a Jedi and a Klingon, and the whole thing is illustrated by awesome comic shorts by Hope Larson and Bryan Lee O’Malley of the Scott Pilgrim comics. My story is called "I Never" and it's about what happens when online role-players in a big online RPG meet for the first time in real life and no one turns out to be like their online persona. You can read an excerpt from the story here:

I hope you'll check out the book in all its geeky glory!

Cassie"

  1. Ah, I WANT THIS! I think it's great that one of the stories is about The Rock Horror Picture Show. Seen the film, went to a floor show..should be great. :)

  2. I Never sounds like it could develope into an amazing novel. Cassandra should definitely think about extending it.

  3. I've heard wonderful things about Geektastic, as well as Cassandra's other books. Hopefully, I will be able to read one of them soon!

  4. Reading "I Never" made me attempt to look up the game referenced. I of course couldn't find it. I really want to play that game. Can anyone find anything like it????
On a side note, did Cassandra take French in high school? The whole dual-person-letter-writing guise seemed very similar to the main plotline in the play "Cyrano de Bergerac," except with a much happier ending.
